In an old white house on top of a hill near the town of Nojiri, lived little Pikachu. One day, Pikachu woke up eeeeeaaarly in the morning. He looked down the stairs.
And climbed gingerly down the stairs.
He went in to wake up his good friend Irio-chan.
“Wake up, Irio-chan! Wake up! There’s a funny noise outside!”
Pikachu and Irio-chan were each too small to see out the window. But Irio-chan helped Pikachu look out. A boat race. It was the day for the boat race.
Pikachu ran to the kitchen to fix some oatmeal for himself and Irio-chan.
Meanwhile, their favorite skippers were getting their favorite boat ready. It was the SOS Calamity Cookie. Here’s skipper Geoff.
And here’s skipper Jenny.
Pikachu and Irio-chan went outside to watch the races.
The bell rang. The race was on! Geoff jumped in the boat as the wind swept it out to sea.
Pikachu and Irio-chan climbed up higher to see the race.
The SOS Calamity Cookie went sweeping by at ruthless speed.
It was heading out to sea.
Pikachu and Irio-chan climbed higher still.
And the SOS Calamity Cookie sped to the front of the pack.
It rounded the buoy marking the last lap.
Irio-chan climbed higher and higher to see the action. It was too exciting to bear.
There they were. The finish line. And the SOS Calamity Cookie was still in the lead.
Pikachu and Irio-chan carefully prepared cookies and milk for their favorite skippers, so that they could have their favorite victory snack.
